In 1972 I read Matthew 24:34 "Verily I say unto you, This generation shall not pass, till all these things be fulfilled" and thought that Jesus was telling His disciples that His return was going to happen in the 1st century. I dismissed the thought because all the churches taught otherwise- it's even in their Creeds. But in 1998 I read 'Last Days Madness' by Gary Demar and my thinking on the 2nd Coming and the message of the New Testament has never been the same from that time forward.

The Serpent is in the Lake of Fire
Revelation 19:20 And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone.
Revelation 20:10 And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever.
Revelation 20:14 And death and hell were cast into the lake of fire. This is the second death.
Revelation 20:15 And whosoever was not found written in the book of life was cast into the lake of fire.
Revelation 21:6 And he said unto me, It is done. I am Alpha and Omega, the beginning and the end. I will give unto him that is athirst of the fountain of the water of life freely.
7 He that overcometh shall inherit all things; and I will be his God, and he shall be my son.
8 But the fearful, and unbelieving, and the abominable, and murderers, and whoremongers, and sorcerers, and idolaters, and all liars, shall have their part in the lake which burneth with fire and brimstone: which is the second death.
Futurists have been deceptively misled into believing that Satan is alive and well on planet earth and is continuing his deceptions and lies.
Revelation 20 points out that after Satan is released from the Abyss (which Futurists must believe has happened because of his present-day rampant activity- according to them) he has a short time to gather the nations to war against the camp of the saints (who are/were in Jerusalem).
But Satan is unable to attack the camp of the saints in Jerusalem because "fire came down from God out of heaven, and devoured them. And the devil that deceived them was cast into the lake of fire and brimstone, where the beast and the false prophet are, and shall be tormented day and night for ever and ever" [ref. Rev 20: 9, 10].
Satan is powerless today. He has been powerless since AD70.
The evil we see on earth is nothing more than the acts of sinful men, some who have no fear of God in them whatsover.
Futurists have also, amongst many other things, been deceptively misled into believing that during their version of the "millenium" there are 1,000 years of peace on earth because Satan is bound with the chain and is held captive in prison in the Abyss.
Unfortunately for them (and according to Revelation 20) after the 1,000 years of peace of theirs
expires, Satan is released from the Abyss and only has a short amount of time to start Armageddon.
So after the 1,000 years of peace during the "millenial reign of Christ", all of a sudden Armageddon starts.
They cannot explain their rationale for their understanding of these events when confronted with this dilemma.
Some have gone so far as to defy Revelation 20 and state that their "millenium" occurs after Armageddon.
And then they brazenly say that preterists and preterism is not true.
Preterism is true Christianity.

I am a charismatic full preterist and am happy to find so many out there. At first I thought I was pretty much alone but I've learned I'm not and I'm glad you are there. I will say though that I'm amazed somewhat dismayed at the number of differences in what preterists believe. There are as many differences as in non-preterist believers. What I find the most dismaying in all the beliefs, or maybe I should say the unbeliefs is in the area of the supernatural. So many believe there are no gifts of the Holy Spirit today, and that there is no evil spirit either. It's almost like after 70 a.d. all supernatural activity ended. I have been a Christian for almost 40 years and have seen much supernatural activity, both evil and good. I'm not talking about emotionalism, although often that accompanies it, I'm talking about things that could not have happened by natural means. You have to have your head in the sand not to either have seen or heard viable testimony of this. There are many testimonies of all the gifts mentioned in the scripture that supposedly ceased being in operation today, including raising the dead. And there are plenty of testimonies of supernatural evil powers operating through witch doctors etc. etc. that require a better explanation of the belief that there is no Satan anymore, or there the gifts of the Holy Spirit are ceased. Daniel and Hebrews talk about the 'end of sin' happening, which it did, but I don't think we understand that as meaning there is no sin today. God wiped away every tear, but do Christians weep today? We have everlasting peace but do we also experience real unpeaceful times? I heard it once said many years ago that Satan has no official power on earth, he only deceives people into giving him power and doing things he wants. He can't make us do anything but certainly can deceive people. Hopefully, as we progress in our beliefs we can be more open to actuals rather that believing what it “seems” the bible says. Just like the futurists, who regardless of the obvious “I’m coming soon” statements made over and over, stand on the “Jesus is coming” statements because “that’s what it says”. And regardless of all the countless manifest gifts of the spirit, many believe they ceased because “it says that”, somewhere. Maybe that was misunderstood too.
ReplyDeleteThere certainly are many "variations" in preterism. It has many Calvinists in it and that's where all the variances are originating I believe. That and the attack on preterism from the outside. I believe there are "fake" preterists who have infiltrated preterism and are purposely trying to divide it into fragments. The Calvinists appear to have the most preterists in preterism and they are being attacked by these fake preterists and fake Christians.
DeleteChristianity has been undergoing an attack ever since it was founded and the attackers don't like preterism. Because they know it is the truth and they don't want preterism to succeed. The antichrists were at it in the 1st century and they're still at it today.
There are many preterists in the Calvinism circle who want to deny that the Holy Spirit is still existant within the church and I wholeheartedly disagree with them.
I use this verse to set the matter straight with them:
Matthew 12:32 And whosoever speaketh a word against the Son of man, it shall be forgiven him: but whosoever speaketh against the Holy Ghost, it shall not be forgiven him, neither in this world, neither in the world to come.
I've separated myself somewhat from these "mainline" preterists because of this and other beliefs they have that I have questioned directly but they won't acknowledge.
They do still have some good points but I still cannot communicate with them it seems. They're set in their ways.
Regarding Satan:
I can't help but believe that he is in the lake of fire- this according to Rev 20.
I believe the evil in this world that we are witnessing stems not from Satan but from the antichrists who have been busy at building their kingdom(s) of their world.
Jesus said what profit is there if one gains the whole world but loses his soul. There are those in the world today who have gained the whole world. They own countries and their governments and their leaders.
These same people are the ones behind the ongoing attack on Christianity.
They have managed to, over the centuries, totally twist into complete distortion the truth about Christianity and preterism in particular.
They're afraid of preterism because they know it's the truth.
They have managed to brainwash Christians, over the centuries, into believing their lies.
That's how I see it.
Thanks for visiting and hope to hear from you again.
Regarding "wiping away tears" and yet people still cry today:
DeleteThere are no more tears in New Jerusalem.
Revelation 7:17 For the Lamb which is in the midst of the throne shall feed them, and shall lead them unto living fountains of waters: and God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes.
Revelation 21:4 And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away.
Tears of joy. Tears of sorrow.
On earth there are tears but not in New Jerusalem.
In the Lake of Fire there is eternal torment and weeping and gnashing of teeth.
Sorry for not addressing that portion of your comment.
I hear you though.
This is the explanation I have for it though.
It is a tough one I'll admit.

ReplyDeleteArmageddon is the site of the pre-Millenial war led by the False Prophet, the Beast, and Satan. The end of that war sees the False Prophet and the Beast cast into the Lake of Fire. The war at the end of the Millennium is the Gog and Magog war that is fought as deceived nations surround the camp of the saints and the beautiful city.
ReplyDeleteThey are different circuses and different monkeys.
The Gog and Magog war ends with all the nations that come against the camp of the saints and the beautiful city killed by fire. Following that, there is a resurrection unto judgement at the Great White Throne which will include the people destroyed by the Gog and Magog fire and the dead that are in the sea, death, and hell.
Those who were resurrected to life at the beginning of the Millennium (ones who are equal to the angels who exercised the powers that overthrew Sodom and her cities) will see the False Prophet and the Beast already in the same Lake of Fire into which Satan will be cast.
Conflating the Armageddon war with the Gog and Magog war will keep you from finding the truth.
Non-Preterists make similar mistakes.
